Basketball Game Preview: Odem Owls vs. Taft Greyhounds

The Odem Owls will challenge the Taft Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Odem's offense hasn't had much luck over their past nine contests, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Friday, Odem had to suffer through a 65-25 loss at the hands of George West.

Meanwhile, in Friday's Canine Competition, Taft prevailed. They secured a 45-39 W over Banquete on Friday.

Taft found their leader in sophomore Krista Amaya, who posted 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Amaya has scored at least a third of Taft's points. Another player making a difference was Aliana Torres, who put up 14 points.

Taft has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-12 record this season. As for Odem, their loss dropped their record down to 8-21.

Odem was dealt a bruising 71-19 defeat at the hands of Taft in their previous matchup on January 3rd. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Odem was down 37-4.
