Baseball Game Preview: Beloit Memorial Purple Knights vs. Waterford Wolverines

The Beloit Memorial Purple Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Waterford Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Beloit Memorial has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Things were looking good for Beloit Memorial after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Elkhorn, falling 17-7. Even though they lost, the Purple Knights' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Owen West and Callen Espinoza did some serious damage despite the final result: West got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, while Espinoza got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenin Pearson, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Waterford had just enough and edged out New Berlin Eisenhower 2-1 on Saturday.

Waterford is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Beloit Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Beloit Memorial might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Waterford when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Purple Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
