Football Recap: Chaparral Extends Winning Streak to Three + How To Watch

Chaparral entered their tilt with Heritage on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 18-6. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked third, while the Eagles are ranked 40th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chaparral found their leader in sophomore Zoey Fink, who threw for 214 yards and three TDs while completing 75% of her passes.

Heritage's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alena Shinabery, who picked up 83 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 41 yards. Shinabery was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 64 yards. Another signal caller making a difference was Maddy Walcott, who threw for 199 yards and one touchdown.

Chaparral's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Heritage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Chaparral will take on rival Douglas County at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Wolverines 9.6, the Huskies 7.7) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Heritage is set to face off against their familiar foe Mountain Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
