Softball Game Preview: Halls Red Devils vs. Alcoa Tornadoes

The Halls Red Devils will take on the Alcoa Tornadoes at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Halls 1, Alcoa 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Halls is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Campbell County get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Red Devils have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Emery Bales made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harper Bales, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Mackenzie Baker was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Halls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Campbell County only posted an OBP of .000.

Meanwhile, Alcoa entered their tilt with Halls on Sunday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Red Devils.

Halls' victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-3-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Alcoa, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2-1.

Halls came up short against Alcoa when the teams last played on Sunday, falling 6-1. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
