Basketball Game Preview: East Gaston Warriors vs. Burns Bulldogs

The East Gaston Warriors will take on the Burns Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. East Gaston has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 13.

East Gaston is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. East Gaston was dealt a 65-15 defeat at the hands of Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-9.

Meanwhile, Burns hadn't done well against Bessemer City recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Burns sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 56-54 victory over Bessemer City.

Burns is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points per game. As for East Gaston, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

East Gaston came up short against Burns in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 38-32. Can East Gaston avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
