Volleyball Recap: Kendall Cruz Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Sheboygan Area Lutheran

Howards Grove won the last time they faced Sheboygan Area Lutheran and things went their way on Monday too. The Tigers put the hurt on the Crusaders with a sharp 3-0 win. The Tigers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since September 11th (when they won 3-0).

Howards Grove's got stronger as the match went on, holding Sheboygan Area Lutheran to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-14, 25-7.

Howards Grove got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kendall Cruz out in front who had ten digs and six aces. That's the most digs Cruz has posted over her last two contests.

Cruz wasn't the only good server: Howards Grove was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sheboygan Area Lutheran only served two aces.

Howards Grove's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7. As for Sheboygan Area Lutheran, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Howards Grove is set to face off against their familiar foe Manitowoc Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Sheboygan Area Lutheran will take on rival Oostburg at 7:00 p.m. on the 23rd.
