Preview: Druid Hills Red Devils vs. Clarkston Angoras
Druid Hills has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Clarkston Angoras at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Druid Hills knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 games -- so hopefully Clarkston likes a good challenge.
Druid Hills posted their biggest win since November 11, 2023 on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 89-68 margin over Stone Mountain. Given Druid Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while Stone Mountain is ranked 416th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Clarkston's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 80-55 loss at the hands of Westminster. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Clarkston has suffered since December 8, 2023.
Despite the defeat, Clarkston got a solid performance out of Lawerence Reeves, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reeves has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Na'Shaun Porter, who scored seven points along with six assists and two steals.
Druid Hills' win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Clarkston, they bumped their record down to 3-13 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Druid Hills against Clarkston in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 93-46 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Druid Hills since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
