Soccer Game Preview: Cheltenham vs. Villa Joseph Marie

The Cheltenham Panthers will square off against the Villa Joseph Marie Jems at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Cheltenham's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Cheltenham's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Springfield Township on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Cheltenham can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania soccer rankings (they are ranked 404th, while Springfield Township are ranked 164th).

Meanwhile, Villa Joseph Marie fought the good fight in their overtime match against Neshaminy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Skins by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty six goals in the game before, Villa Joseph Marie couldn't push the score so high this time.

Cheltenham's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Villa Joseph Marie, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7-2.
