Groves extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They fell 35-26 to the Johnson Atomsmashers. On the bright side, the 26- point performance marked the Rebels' highest-scoring match to date.

Groves' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taff James, who rushed for 66 yards and one TD on only nine carries, and also picked up 52 receiving yards and one touchdown. Another signal caller making a difference was Kaleb Detty, who threw for 218 yards and a pair of TDs.
