Soccer Game Preview: Coolidge vs. Yuma Catholic

The Coolidge Bears will venture away from home to square off against the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Coolidge is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals last Wednesday, they were much more limited against San Tan Foothills on Thursday. They lost 4-1 to the Sabercats.

Meanwhile, Yuma Catholic and ALA - Ironwood combined for 19 shots on goal on Saturday, which explains the impressive six total goals scored. Yuma Catholic came out on top against ALA - Ironwood by a score of 4-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Shamrocks.

They hit ALA - Ironwood with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Isaac Garcia, Hector Soto, Van Winburn, and Diego Pompa.

Yuma Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 43 goals over those six matchups. As for Coolidge, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Coolidge might still be hurting after the 4-1 defeat they got from Yuma Catholic in their previous meeting back in March of 2021. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Coolidge was down 3-0.
