Game recap: Gulfport's defense a little sharper in victory over Harrison Central

Gulfport (Miss.) and Harrison Central (Gulfport, Miss.) both tightened up defensively, but Gulfport managed to score enough to pull out the 14-0 victory.

The Admirals scored on two passing touchdowns to pull out the win.

Gulfport was up 7-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Chandler Malley to Jevon Floyd in the first quarter.

GHS expanded its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. The Admirals' lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown pass by Malley to Richaud Floyd.

Malley was the top performer for Gulfport. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns.

GHS came in allowing an average of 21.8 points per game this season.



A 50-14 Gulfport victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.

The loss comes after Harrison Central defeated George County 29-8 last week.

In a 6A Region 4 game next week Gulfport (3-3) takes on Hancock, and Harrison Central (1-4) will go up against D'Iberville also in a 6A Region 4 game.
