Basketball Recap: Cook Takes a Loss

Cook was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 60-46 to the Lanier County Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 516th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 190th).

Despite the loss, Cook still got an impressive performance from Tucker Rountree, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 boards. The matchup was Rountree's sixth in a row with at least ten points.

Even though they lost, Cook smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Cook's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Lanier County, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.

Cook wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 98-25 loss against Worth County on the 21st. As for Lanier County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-29 defeat against Tift County on the 27th.
