Basketball Recap: Julian Vargas Key Part of Team Effort in Patriots Win + How To Watch

Lake Brantley had won four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they bumped up to 6-1 to make it five. They secured a 52-46 W over the Winter Springs Bears. Those 52 points were actually the fewest the Patriots have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Lake Brantley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Julian Vargas led the charge by shooting 42% from the field on his way to 12 points and five boards. That's the most rebounds Vargas has posted since back in December of 2024. Josiah Glaude was another key player, going 5-for-11 to rack up 12 points and four steals.

As for Winter Springs, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 444th, while Lake Brantley is ranked 56th).

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jack Clark, who scored 11 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Caleb Moxam, who put up 12 points.

Lake Brantley has already played their next matchup, a 52-32 victory against Boone on the 10th. As for Winter Springs, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-57 defeat against International Community on the 11th.
