Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ayer Shirley). Everything went their way against the South Colonels on Thursday as they made off with a 16-1 win. The Panthers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 12, 2024 (when they won 23-3).

Devon Perwak made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Ayer Shirley got a massive performance out of Abbey Hoeske, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Hoeske a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Adamson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

Ayer Shirley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

With the victory, Ayer Shirley broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-9-1. As for South, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Looking ahead, Ayer Shirley will square off against Littleton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. South has already played their next matchup (against Auburn), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
