Baseball Recap: Naples Drops Season-High Score on Lely

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Naples had no problem doing just that on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Lely Trojans. The Golden Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

CHASE BAKER looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has become a key player for Naples: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-16 otherwise.

At the plate, ETHAN KATZ and NICO BLANCO did most of the damage at the plate: KATZ scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while BLANCO got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs KATZ has posted since back in February. DEVIN DUNFORD was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Naples' record is now 10-16. As for Lely, they dropped their record down to 3-21 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Coming up, Naples will take on Barron Collier at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Golden Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Lely does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
