Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Pleasant Kilties vs. Classical Purple

The Mt. Pleasant Kilties will head out on the road to square off against the Classical Purple at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mt. Pleasant has three straight wins, Classical has 13 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Mt. Pleasant's victory against Blackstone Valley Prep wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Kilties had just enough and edged out the PRIDE 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Kilties have posted since May 29, 2024.

Meanwhile, Classical scored the most runs they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Juanita Sanchez Complex by a score of 8-7.

Oscar Charlesworth was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those hits were his first of the season. Silas McKay was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Mt. Pleasant pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Classical, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.

Everything went Mt. Pleasant's way against Classical when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Mt. Pleasant made off with a 12-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Kilties since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
