Basketball Recap: Northeast's Win Ends 20-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Northeast came into Tuesday's game having lost 14 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They snuck past the Springfield Yellow Jackets with a 65-59 victory on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Yellow Jackets back in January, they had to take a 67-56 loss.

Tayshaun Mozee was a one-man wrecking crew for Northeast as he almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiovoney Gilmore, who went 8 for 15 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds.

Northeast smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Northeast's win ended a 20-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-18. As for Springfield, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 9-15.

Northeast and Springfield could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. Northeast will take on Kenwood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday down 228 places (365 vs. 137). Northeast is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 20-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. Meanwhile, Springfield (ranked 238th) will meet Kirkwood (ranked 56th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
