Softball Recap: Emerson Cavaliers vs. Waldwick Warriors

Emerson fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Waldwick on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 2-1. The Cavaliers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Sophia Centeno put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 7.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. Centeno was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Centeno wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Julia Seretis, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Emerson's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Emerson is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Bergenfield at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Waldwick, they will take on Union City at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
