The Nucla Mustangs and the Kiowa Indians squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Nucla Mustangs had to settle for second. They fell 39-31 to the Indians. Nucla just can't catch a break and has now endured four defeats in a row.
Nucla's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darcy Bray, who scored five points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Viviana Zunich, who scored three points along with two steals.
It was another big night for Paola Vidales, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds for Kiowa. Vidales hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauryn Morehead, who scored eight points along with six assists and two steals.
Nucla's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Kiowa, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
