Football Game Preview: Murphy Bulldogs vs. Community School of Davidson Spartans

Murphy is on a 13-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Community School of Davidson is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Bulldogs will square off against the Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Murphy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Albemarle 57-14. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Murphy's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Albemarle is ranked 312th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Community School of Davidson). They blew past Swain County, posting a 65-13 victory. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Spartans with their most commanding win of the season.

Community School of Davidson's win came from a few key players Murphy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ty Sigler, who threw for 198 yards and five touchdowns on only 17 passes, and also punched in one TD on the ground. His passing game has become a key predictor of Community School of Davidson's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 3-4 otherwise. Cade Rasmussen made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Community School of Davidson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Rasmussen, Caleb Bosemiller, and Wyatt Baker picked up one apiece. Rasmussen got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Murphy's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Community School of Davidson, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
