Pickens had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 28-20 victory over Pepperell. That's more bragging rights for Pickens, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Among those leading the charge was Carson Mitton, who threw for 158 yards and one TD, and also punched in one rushing score.

Pickens didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Pepperell to a completion percentage of just 45.8%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Peyton Vincent and Ike Wyngaard, who each logged one passes deflected. Pickens wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 65.4%.

Looking ahead, Pickens will be playing at home against Sonoraville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Pepperell, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Adairsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
