Baseball Recap: Sulligent Gets the Win

Sulligent took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Hackleburg, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Blue Devils narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Panthers 10-8. With that win, the Blue Devils brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Bradley Wilson was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February of 2025. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Ethan Stiles was excellent, going 3-for-4 with six RBI and one run. Sulligent is undefeated when Stiles posts three or more hits, but 0-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Blake Stephens, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Sulligent and bumps their season record up to 3-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Hackleburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Coming up, Sulligent will challenge Marion County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hackleburg, they will face off against Shoals Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
