Softball Recap: Madison-Grant Wins Going Away Against Monroe Central

Madison-Grant won the last time they faced Monroe Central and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Argylls were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Golden Bears. Considering the Argylls have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

McKenna Craig was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Madison-Grant let Demie Havens and Carley Holliday run wild. Havens went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Holliday went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most doubles Havens has posted since back in May of 2024. Grace Wood was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Madison-Grant was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher in three consecutive games.

Madison-Grant has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Monroe Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madison-Grant will square off against Elwood at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Argylls' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Monroe Central, they will take on Muncie Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Bears are facing the Bearcats at the right time seeing as the Bearcats are stuck on a 16-game losing streak.
