Recap: Lafayette Central Catholic Knights vs. Western Panthers
The Lafayette Central Catholic Knights scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 64-53 victory over Western. With that win, Lafayette Central Catholic brought their scoring average up to 50.7 points per game.
Lafayette Central Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Albert Schwartz, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Schwartz has scored at least 25% of Lafayette Central Catholic's points. Mikey Stapleton was another key contributor, scoring 22 points.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Logan Nelson, who scored 15 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Thurston, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
The victory was the third in a row for Lafayette Central Catholic, bringing their record for this year to 5-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Western, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Lafayette Central Catholic will take on McCutcheon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. McCutcheon is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Western, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Logansport at 7:30 p.m.
