Softball Recap: St. Francis Starts Season with Win Against Becker

St. Francis had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Becker Bulldogs by a score of 5-2 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Fighting Saints in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Sydney Borchert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 15 Ks.

At the plate, Alexa Skogquist was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Emerson Markas, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. St. Francis is set to face off against their familiar foe Zimmerman at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Becker will take on rival North Branch at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
