Baseball Game Preview: Argyle Scots vs. North Warren Central Cougars

The Argyle Scots will head out to take on the North Warren Central Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Wednesday, Argyle came up short against Lake George and fell 6-2. The loss put an end to the Scots' undefeated start to the season.

Meanwhile, North Warren Central gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They came out on top against Corinth by a score of 9-4.

Owen Scheafer was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Scheafer was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Daniel Mattison and Wyatt Jennings did most of the damage at the plate: Mattison scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Jennings scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Mattison a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Brodie Rooker, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Having lost for the first time this season, Argyle fell to 2-1. As for North Warren Central, their record is now 1-0.

Argyle might still be hurting after the 8-1 defeat they got from North Warren Central in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Scots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
