Softball Recap: Fruitvale Falls Short of Detroit in the Playoffs

Fruitvale and Detroit squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Fruitvale had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 4-3. The Bobcats' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Kyla Bain put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

Fruitvale's loss dropped their record down to 7-13-1. As for Detroit, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Eagles beat Fruitvale by a score of 4-3 later that day.
