Softball Preview: Aurora Greenmen vs. Avon Lake Shoremen        
        
		
            The Aurora Greenmen will challenge the Avon Lake Shoremen at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one:  the two teams posted some lofty  run totals in their previous games.
Aurora's pitching crew heads into the  contest  hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed  on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by  a  16-0 margin over Max S. Hayes. The Greenmen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 matchups by eight  runs or more this season.
Meanwhile,  winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Avon Lake). They skirted past Olmsted Falls  18-16. With that  win, the Shoremen brought their scoring average up to 6.4  runs per game.
 Erin Dean made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she  pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off   two  hits. What's more,  she posted five  strikeouts, the most she's  had since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 3-for-5 with five  RBI, two  runs,  and one  triple.
 In other batting news,  Sammy Cracas and  Carmen McMinn did most of the damage at the plate:  Cracas  went a perfect 3-for-3 with four  runs, two  stolen bases,  and four  RBI, while  McMinn  got on base  in all five of her plate appearances with one  home run, four  runs,  and three  RBI. Those  four  runs gave  McMinn a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Briana Webster, who  went 3-for-4 with four  runs and one  RBI.
 Avon Lake was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .438. They are 6-1 when  they post a batting average of .375 or better.
 Aurora pushed their record up to 24-2 with the  victory, which was their 24th straight  at home dating back to last season. Those  home  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Avon Lake, the  victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-12.
