Football Game Preview: Marina Mariners vs. Santa Cruz Cardinals

The Marina Mariners will take on the Santa Cruz Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Marina is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

If Marina beats Santa Cruz with 29 points on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Mariners came out on top against Rancho San Juan by a score of 29-22 on Friday. While the Mariners didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-8), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Santa Cruz won against Pajaro Valley last Saturday with 44 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Cardinals strolled past Seaside with points to spare, taking the game 44-27.

Marina's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Santa Cruz, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
