Basketball Game Preview: Starmount Rams vs. South Stokes Sauras

Starmount is 1-9 against South Stokes since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Starmount Rams will venture away from home to square off against the South Stokes Sauras at 7:45 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Starmount will head into Tuesday's contest on the come-up: they were handed a 24-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Elkin, sneaking past 43-41.

Starmount found their leader in sophomore Deuce Best, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Ryley Rodriguez was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Starmount smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, South Stokes entered their tilt with Reagan on Wednesday with 12 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 13. They snuck past the Raiders with a 51-47 win.

Starmount's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-18. As for South Stokes, their win was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-2.

Starmount was taken down by South Stokes 75-32 in their previous matchup back in January. Can Starmount avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
