Baseball Recap: Ralston Valley Victorious

Ralston Valley owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Lakewood Tigers. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won five in a row.

Not much got past Winston Patterson, who gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks to keep Lakewood off the board. Ralston Valley is undefeated when Patterson allows three or fewer hits, but 4-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Brayden Gillest was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Gilbreath, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Ralston Valley lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Ralston Valley now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Lakewood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ralston Valley will host Arapahoe at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Lakewood, they will face off against Arvada West at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
