Basketball Recap: Ford Daniels' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Asheville over Enka

Asheville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Enka Jets, falling 90-65. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Jets earlier this season, when they won 80-76.

Asheville lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ford Daniels, who posted eight points and eight rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times he's played. Anthony Sworsy was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Hyatt Middleton had an outrageously good game for Enka as he went 7-for-11 en route to 20 points. Another player making a difference was Logan Trantham, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Asheville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-20. As for Enka, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-11 and their overall record up to 7-16.

Asheville has already played their next contest, a 98-68 loss against McDowell on the 17th. As for Enka, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 87-74 defeat against T.C. Roberson on the 18th.
