Union Area had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They never let the Cornell Raiders get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-0 on Monday.

Korynne Shannon made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Aleah Kroesen was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Olivia Benedict was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Union Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Union Area pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cornell, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union Area will head out to challenge New Castle at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cornell, they will venture away from home to take on Bishop Canevin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
