Basketball Recap: Seneca Valley Takes Down Frederick in a Playoff Battle

Seneca Valley had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They managed a 50-44 victory over the Frederick Cadets on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Screamin' Eagles sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Seneca Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mina Hashemzadeh, who posted 11 points. Hashemzadeh has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brielle Watson, who shot 43% from the field on her way to 13 points and five boards.

Seneca Valley's victory bumped their record up to 20-3. As for Frederick, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7.

Coming up, Seneca Valley will take on Clarksburg at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Clarksburg will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Seneca Valley surely won't give up without a fight. Frederick does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
