Baseball Recap: Akron Wins Going Away Against East Aurora

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Notre Dame, Akron was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They put the hurt on the East Aurora Blue Devils with a sharp 13-3 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Conlan Luck made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Collin Miller and Ryan Owen did most of the damage at the plate: Miller got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Owen went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Miller has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Haist, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Akron kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory got Akron back to even at 6-6. As for East Aurora, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Coming up, Akron will be playing in front of their home fans against Newfane at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for East Aurora, they will head out to take on Eden at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.
