District 10 Region 6 AAA/AAAA recap September 17, 2013
Strong Vincent moved up to 169 from 214 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in District 10 Region 6 AAA/AAAA. The Colonels climbed the ranks as a result of losing to St. Ignatius 35-8.
Strong Vincent fell to the Wildcats 35-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
East's dynamic duo of Jarel Nelson and Tavaray Carr proved tough for Meadville to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Nelson threw for 115 yards and Carr had 81 yards receiving. Anthony Gates helped East's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 54 yards.
The Warriors' dynamic duo of Nelson and Carr proved to be unstoppable against the Bulldogs, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Tyler Sanders was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 27 carries, he ran for 206 yards as General McLane fell to Meadville. Teammate Zach Fox added to the ground attack by rushing for 55 yards.
Sanders made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Lancers bested Oil City. The 5-foot-9 senior recorded 2 fumbles.
Nelson put up the best numbers through the air as Leonard Ford's team lost to Coach Feleppa's team.
Sanders was a passing and rushing force as General McLane beat the Oilers.
Carr was the best wideout in the league this week as the Warriors lost to the Bulldogs.
6-foot-1 quarterback Billy Fessler of Cathedral Prep is the league leader in passing yards this season with 364. He has also thrown 3 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Eddie Williams. The East star has 9 catches for 99 yards.
A big matchup in District 10 Region 6 AAA/AAAA this week will be when Scott White's team takes on East. The Colonels are in fifth place, while the Warriors are in sixth place.
The Ramblers led the league in scoring this week after putting up 43 points on Lake Catholic.
