Basketball Recap: Fannett Metal Takes a Loss

Fannett Metal was the 39-34 winner over Southern Fulton when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Fannett Metal fell just short of the Southern Fulton Indians by a score of 67-64 on Tuesday.

It was another big night for Gaven Mellott, who went 10 for 17 en route to 24 points along with seven assists and six boards for Southern Fulton. Another player making a difference was Dayton Carpenter, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.

Fannett Metal has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points per game. As for Southern Fulton, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-9.

Fannett Metal will square off against Everett at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southern Fulton, they will face off against Berlin Brothersvalley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
