Basketball Recap: Blake Peterson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat San Juan

There's no place like home for Wayne, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-50 victory over the San Juan Broncos on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Badgers have posted since November 23, 2024.

Wayne's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blake Peterson, who posted 18 points and eight rebounds. Peterson's afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Robins, who went 6-for-14 on his way to 13 points in addition to eight boards and three blocks.

San Juan's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cole Duke, who had 18 points and three steals. Tripp Palmer was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and 19 rebounds.

The win got Wayne back to even at 1-1. As for San Juan, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Wayne will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Gunnison Valley at 7:00 p.m. on December 4. As for San Juan, they have already played their next game, a 77-55 victory against Green River on the 25th.
