Basketball Recap: Heidi Rathmann Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Addison Trail

Antioch came into Friday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-48 victory over the Addison Trail Blazers on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Sequoits have posted since November 21, 2023.

Antioch's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Heidi Rathmann, who posted 23 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rathmann has scored at least a third of Antioch's points. Scarlett Carroll was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Antioch's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8. As for Addison Trail, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Antioch won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lemont at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Antioch has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Addison Trail, they will challenge Schaumburg at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
