Baseball Recap: Spanish River Gets the Win

After losing to Dwyer the last time they met, Spanish River decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Sharks walked away with a 6-3 win over the Panthers on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sharks.

Spanish River got a great performance from Dylan Werblow as he struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Werblow has posted since back in March.

At the plate, Spanish River's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jesse Chimenti, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The Sharks are 5-1 when Chimenti posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise.

Spanish River's record is now 12-9. As for Dwyer, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spanish River will face off against Santaluces at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Dwyer, they will take on John Carroll Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
