Soccer Game Preview: Luling vs. Yoakum

For the first time this season, Luling will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to square off against the Yoakum Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Luling took a three-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Florence, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles never let the Buffaloes get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Tuesday. Luling wouldn't have won without Jose Tula, who scored the game-winner.

Meanwhile, Yoakum lost 6-1 to Floresville on Friday. Yoakum have struggled against Floresville recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Yoakum's loss dropped their record down to 0-2-1. As for Luling, their victory bumped their record up to 2-8.

Luling came out on top in a nail-biter against Yoakum in their previous matchup back in January of 2025, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
