Volleyball Recap: Lucerne Valley Comes Up Short

Lucerne Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Avalon Lancers. If the Mustangs were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Lancers when the teams met back in August of 2018, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The final score came out to 25-10, 25-21.

Amaya Kelly paced Lucerne Valley's offense, picking up four kills. Kelly got some help from Ashlyn McTiernan and her three assists. Kelly was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Lucerne Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Avalon, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Lucerne Valley has already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against New Covenant Academy on the 23rd. As for Avalon, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Samueli Academy at 3:15 p.m. on September 26.
