Volleyball Recap: St. Edward Green Wave vs. Wheaton Academy Warriors
St. Edward was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wheaton Academy Warriors. If the Green Wave were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Warriors when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, St. Edward sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 22-25, 25-13.
Their offense was headlined by Sam Pogorzelski and Sophia Savini, who picked up three kills apiece. Pogorzelski really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with nine. Alaina Nolan controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
St. Edward's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Wheaton Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.
Looking ahead, St. Edward will venture away from home to square off against Hinckley-Big Rock at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wheaton Academy, they will take on Taft at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
