Football Recap: West Greene Takes a Loss

If West Greene was feeling good fresh off their 40-0 takedown of Mapletown last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pioneers were dealt a 40-6 defeat at the hands of the Jefferson-Morgan Rockets on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 453rd, while the Rockets are ranked 182nd).

Despite the loss, West Greene still got an impressive performance from Joel Rizor, who rushed for 90 yards, and also threw for 53 yards and one touchdown.

Deakyn Dehoet produced another solid effort picking up 150 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, while also rushing for 63 yards and one score for Jefferson-Morgan. Another player making a difference was Triton Farabee, who threw for 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six passes.

West Greene's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Jefferson-Morgan, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Looking ahead, West Greene will venture away from home to face off against Bentworth at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bearcats' defense has only allowed 8.3 points per game this season, so the Pioneers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Jefferson-Morgan, they will welcome Bethlehem Center at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
