Basketball Recap: Payson Lions vs. Timpanogos Timberwolves
The Payson Lions scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They claimed a resounding 70-29 win over Timpanogos at home. The win was nothing new for Payson as they're now sitting on nine straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Payson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Avery Roundy, who scored ten points along with seven steals. Roundy has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Oaklie Jackman, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Payson has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Timpanogos, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Payson will face off against the Bruins at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain View is on a three-game streak of home wins, the Lions a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Timpanogos, they will head out on the road to challenge the Utes at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (Uintah is ranked 100th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 108th).
