Basketball Recap: Benedictine Comes Up Short

Benedictine and Marist squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Benedictine had to settle for second. They fell 68-59 to the Marist War Eagles. The Cadets have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Benedictine lost, don't look at Caleb Jones. Despite the final result, he went 11-for-15 to rack up 30 points and seven rebounds. Jones is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in each of the last 51 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was CaRon Hall, who posted 11 points and eight boards.

Benedictine's defeat dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Marist, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season.

Benedictine does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marist, they will square off against North Oconee on Saturday. North Oconee will roll in looking for their 25th straight win, something Marist surely won't give up without a fight.
