Baseball Recap: Fairfield Knights vs. Hanover Nighthawks

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Fairfield and Hanover meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Knights took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nighthawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 11-10 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Vaughn Lewis put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Lewis wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Riley Brown, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
