Basketball Recap: Clarksburg Coyotes vs. Whitman Vikings

The Clarksburg Coyotes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 67-51 bruising from Whitman. While losing is never fun, Clarksburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while the Vikings are ranked 51st).

Whitman was led to victory by Thomas Farrell and Hayden Walsh. Farrell scored 18 points, while Walsh went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 2 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Titian DeRosa, who scored eight points along with five assists and four steals.

Clarksburg's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Whitman, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clarksburg will take on the Jaguars at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Northwest and the Coyotes are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Whitman, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Churchill has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 366 points over their last six games.
