Basketball Recap: Joey Dube - Garrett's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cypress Lake over Gulf Coast

Cypress Lake lost against Gulf Coast back in January of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cypress Lake Panthers fell 58-46 to the Gulf Coast Sharks. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cypress Lake's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joey Dube - Garrett, who posted 17 points and five rebounds. Dube - Garrett is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Zeke Dube-Garrett was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

Jacobi Sayus went supernova for Gulf Coast, going 7 of 11 on his way to 19 points. What's more, Sayus also posted a 64% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cayden Daugherty, who put up 11 points and five rebounds.

Cypress Lake's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Gulf Coast, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-11.

Cypress Lake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-43 win against DeSoto County on the 3rd. As for Gulf Coast, they have also already played their next matchup, a 74-72 victory against Dunbar on the 5th.
