Softball Recap: Hartland Takes a Loss

Hartland made up a huge gap compared to their last game against South Lyon, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles fell just short of the Lions by a score of 5-3 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since April 27, 2024.

Kaitlyn Brennan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Sadie Malik also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The defeat snapped Hartland's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-5-1 record. As for South Lyon, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hartland will head out to take on Brighton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.54 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for South Lyon, they will head out on the road to square off against Lakeland at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season.
